Dog Walk

Last Sunday we had beautiful weather. We bundled up Dolan and packed up the dogs and headed for the dog park so Dolan could go for his first sled ride. Well... by the time we got Dolan to the park he was fast asleep :) I decided that Dolan should still have the experience (even though he was asleep) so I put him in the sled. As soon as he was in the sled he started to cry so needless to say it was a short sled ride! Instead he went into the Baby Trekker and enjoyed the walk sleeping while daddy carried him.

On the way home we stopped at Tim Horton's and went through the drive through. The dogs enjoyed the stop because they received a Tims bit from the cashier.

Go Riders Go

The Riders won the Grey Cup on Sunday. Dolan showed his Rider Pride by wearing a green diaper and two green outfits. He also had a chance to try out the Jolly Jumper that Grandpa and Grandma Kun purchased for him. Dolan enjoyed the game with Uncle Ryan, Mommy, Daddy, and Grandpa and Grandma Kun.

Oh... I can't forget to mention Archie, Yogi and Scooter. The only reason I am adding this is because Archie made it into two of the photos!!

Mazda 5

I now interrupt the baby blog with a post about our new vehicle. You may have noticed that the baby is still included in this post :) On Friday we picked up our new Mazda 5. My car was in an accident in July and we finally settled everything with SGI. We were looking at station wagons and when we saw the Mazda 5 we were instantly won over. It has the features of a mini van (sliding doors, seats that fold down, and seating for 6) but drives like a car. Kanndece and Victor were visiting the other day and we all piled into the car. We had 5 people and two dogs comfortably in the vehicle.

Yogi...

Yesterday I groomed Yogi. I wasn't sure if I was up to it but it went a lot better than I thought it would. I will have to get a picture and post it because he looks very different from the scruffy photos that I have already posted. He looks so delicate and tiny now, which is quite funny because those would be the last words that I would choose to describe Yogi. In fact my next door neighbour (who graciously offered to let the dogs out when we have to rush to the hospital and stay there a while) is scared of Yogi. He can be quite demanding and isn't afraid to stand up for himself.

I was surprised when I looked at my blog this morning that the poll worked!! I tried to add it yesterday and it said saving... saving... and then nothing. So I assumed it didn't work. Well it is pretty neat because now I can see that people are looking at my blog because almost no one leaves comments :( Quite a few people tell me that they are reading it so I am keeping it up and trying to add pictures as much as I can because I think that is what makes it interesting.

Man's Best Friend

Kevin did not want to get a dog. But I am persistent and stubborn. From the moment I brought home Yogi he became Kevin's dog. So once Yogi was a year old we got Archie. Now when Kevin is playing with Archie, Yogi comes to watch with me. Two dogs, two people...

2008 photo contest

So this year I entered four photos for the contest. The contest closes September 15. After this date they will hold a fundraising dinner and everyone who is there can vote for the photos they like the best. We attended the dinner last year and they had it at Poverino's and also held a silent auction. Here are the photos I entered for the 2008 calendar.

I really wanted to enter some photos of Archie this year but it is really hard to take photos of black dogs. If anyone has any hints or ideas I would appreciate it. I even tried an Archie photo shoot just to get a photo for the calendar but I had no success.

Photo contest

So last year the Saskatoon SPCA held their first annual photo contest. I entered two photos of Yogi and each photo won a spot in their 2007 calendar. The photos that won are:

Update

On Friday Basil's new family drove up from Edmonton to pick him up. I got an update from them and he is settling in nicely. Archie and Yogi adapted surprisingly well to his leaving. On the long weekend all three dogs were separated and Archie had some troubles adjusting to life without his buddies so I didn't think he would be o.k. with Basil leaving. But sometimes things just work out...

I booked my maternity photo shoot today. I have the most awesome photographer, Melina Perron. You can check out some of her work at: http://melinaperronphotography.blogspot.com/ After the baby is born we are going to get family photos as well. I am really excited about the shoot especially since I will have a ton of great photos to scrapbook.

Tomorrow I am meeting with my doula, Carly. Many people have asked me, "What is a doula?" Well.. The word has come to refer to "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth." (Klaus, Kennell and Klaus, Mothering the Mother) So basically Carly is there to support me through the birth and help me have a positive experience. Carly is just starting her training as a doula but she is so knowledgeable and I am learning so much from her.

Play Time

Puppies are so much fun. Especially if there are other dogs to play with.

Archie and Yogi

My two dogs... Archie is a two year old standard poodle and Yogi is a three year old toy poodle cross. They are great dogs. Yogi is the boss and Archie is our gentle giant.
